Celebrating 12 Years of Creating the World’s Best Mobile Whiteboards
For 12 years, Collaborative Design Space has been rethinking what a mobile whiteboard can do.
What began with a simple idea has grown into a range of innovative mobile whiteboards used by organisations across Australia and around the world. Today, we are proud to have supported more than 2,000 customers and supplied over 13,000 mobile whiteboards across Australia, Singapore, India, Taiwan and the USA.
This milestone is not only about the number of whiteboards we have created. It represents 12 years of helping people share ideas, solve problems and collaborate more effectively.
It All Started with Collaboration
Collaboration is essential for innovation, growth and stronger connections across an organisation.
It can happen digitally or face to face. It may be planned and structured, or it may begin with a spontaneous conversation between colleagues. While every form of collaboration has value, we chose to focus on face-to-face interaction because of its ability to bring people, ideas and perspectives together in real time.
Our goal was clear: to create practical tools that would help organisations unlock the benefits of better collaboration.
We believed that well-designed mobile whiteboards could play an important role in making this possible.
Recognising the Potential of Mobile Whiteboards
When we entered the market, high-quality mobile whiteboards at an accessible price were difficult to find.
Many large furniture providers viewed whiteboards as office accessories. We saw them differently. To us, a mobile whiteboard was not something added to a workspace after the important decisions had been made. It was an integral part of effective workspace design.
Mobile whiteboards can help teams transform underused areas into collaborative zones, run workshops wherever they are needed and adapt their environment as projects evolve. They can also support Agile project management, Design Thinking, visual planning, teaching and everyday problem-solving.
This understanding inspired us to design our first mobile whiteboard system.
Introducing the Original Y System
Our mobile whiteboard journey began with the Y System, now known as the Get Together Mobile Whiteboard.
Its distinctive three-wheel design offered an innovative alternative to the standard four-wheel whiteboards available at the time. The design made the boards easy to move, connect and stack, helping teams use their available space more efficiently.
The Get Together was also designed with long-term performance in mind. Its premium e3 CeramicSteel writing surface provides a smooth writing experience and excellent resistance to staining and ghosting. Strong construction and quality components allow it to perform reliably in demanding workplaces.
Twelve years later, the Get Together remains part of our mobile whiteboard collection. Some customers who purchased their boards more than 10 years ago are still using their original products today. Others have returned to purchase additional boards as their teams and workplaces have grown.
For us, that continued use is one of the strongest measures of good design.

Despite this growth, the principles behind our products remain the same: intelligent design, reliable quality, effortless mobility and genuine usefulness.
We do not design mobile whiteboards as accessories. We create them as essential workspace tools that can support communication, adaptability and better use of space.
Our designs have also helped demonstrate the importance of mobile whiteboards to the broader furniture industry. More furniture providers now include them within their product ranges. We welcome this recognition because it reflects a wider understanding that collaboration tools should be considered from the beginning of the workspace design process.
Designing for the Future of Work
Workplaces will continue to change, but the need for people to connect, communicate and develop ideas together will remain.
The most effective workspaces are not necessarily the ones with the most furniture. They are the ones that give people the flexibility to choose how and where they work.
